About Escapades


Hi, my name is Patience Saduwa. I started this blog in October, 2015 as a platform to share my short stories on love, life, romance and relationships that I have been writing over the years. As a journalist by profession, working with The Nation, Lagos, Nigeria covering the health and lifestyle beat at the time, I've always loved writing and creating and have written a number of short stories published in several literary journals. I've also written a novel (The Chosen One) which was published in 2007.
As a creative person and a graduate of English and Literature, I get my story ideas from my imagination as well as things happening around me in the society, people that I meet in the course of my job, tips from friends, family and colleagues and little bits and gossip that I hear.
Sometimes, people tell me their stories, and after verifying, I write it in a dramatic way to make it more interesting.
For variety, we have added other pages on lifestyle, health, infotainment and interviews on the blog.
The reception to the blog since inception, from readers and visitors has been overwhelming, with viewership from all over the world and lots of commendation for the blog.
I hope you enjoy our stories featured here and look forward to a long relationship with you, my dear readers, visitors and followers.

My Boss wants me as his Baby Mama! (1)

    ***  One sees all kinds of stuff in this our city of Lagos. In my eight years of living in this big city, I thought I had seen it all. The good, the bad. The crazy and the absurd.  That was until my boss sprung a big surprise on me some time ago...  Let me tell you a little bit about my 'Oga' or boss. He's about 38 years old, a widower with a son. The boy, Michael is nine and in secondary school in the boarding house. My boss whom I will call Mr T for the sake of his privacy, is quite kind and considerate when he wants to.  That is when you do your job very well without delays or mistakes. He's very thorough and demanding and hates things done in a tacky, untidy manner. You do that and you get some serious tongue lashing from him. Besides that, he is not a bad boss, just hard working and driven.  Of average height, he has a slim compact body and a serious looking face; the only time you see Mr T crack a smile is when the company has won one

We had an arrangement. I would spend at least two weekends in a month at his house until I conceived.  "You can move in with me until you have the baby or remain at your place. The choice is yours," my boss said when we were working out the modalities of the 'deal' between us. The baby will be with me till it was two years old then he would take over full responsibilities for it, he added.  "You can then move on with your life; get married, travel. Whatever. I'll have no hold on you whatsoever.
