(O mos ,
the story's protagonist, is caught between her love for her boyfriend and
loyalty to her late brother and family. Who will win?)

The incident that would change the life of every member of my family forever, occurred in the early hours of May 18th, 2008.
I remember it vividly because it was a day after my sister, Ena's 22nd birthday. My parents hadorganised a
party for her to mark the day as well as celebrate her graduation from the
university with a good grade.
The party had gone well, everyone had fun with enough to eat and drink. My parents gave Ena some nice gifts including a customized necklace with her name engraved on it. Ena loved that necklace so much, she put it on immediately and even went to sleep with it on her neck.
Due to the excitement of the party, we did not go to bed early that day. It was well pass 1 am.that the household settled down to catch some sleep before church
service the following day, a Sunday.
I was among the last person to go up to bed as I had done some cleaning in the kitchen before the cleaners would report the next day. I must have drifted off to sleep. Then, sounds like those of gunshots woke me up. I sat up and shook Ena awake.
She was sharing my bed with me that night because of some of her friends who had stayed back and were using her bed.
"Did you hear that?" I whispered. She sat up, yawning.
"What's it? Is it morning yet?" she mumbled sleepily.
Before I could reply, shots rang out again, this time so close as if they were fired near our house...
